Supplying customers across the UK and internationally, the business has built a strong reputation for producing high-quality, lightweight and accessible vehicles that help keep communities moving.
Due to continued growth and increasing production demand, we’re looking for experienced Coachbuilders / Mechanical Fitters to join their skilled manufacturing team.
The Role
As a Coachbuilder / Mechanical Fitter, you’ll play a key role in assembling and fitting passenger vehicles to the highest quality standards.
Working within a modern manufacturing environment, you’ll be involved in all aspects of vehicle build, from mechanical fitting and body assembly through to interior installation and final finishing. Every vehicle is built to precise customer specifications, making attention to detail and craftsmanship essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and fit mechanical components to passenger vehicles
- Install seating, flooring, accessibility equipment, grab rails and interior trim
- Carry out body fitting and vehicle assembly work
- Install doors, glazing, panels and associated vehicle components
- Read and work from engineering drawings and build instructions
- Use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Carry out quality inspections throughout the build process
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve production targets
- Maintain high standards of workmanship, housekeeping and Health & Safety
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience within coachbuilding, vehicle body building, automotive assembly or mechanical fitting
- Experience working on commercial vehicles, buses, coaches or specialist vehicle builds would be advantageous
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical instructions
- Experience working with materials including aluminium, steel, composites, plywood and vehicle trim
- Familiarity with sealants, adhesives, fillers and finishing products
- Competent using hand tools and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative production team
