GTS Group are recruiting for a Regional Engineering Manager – North to lead and develop a team of field-based engineers delivering advanced vehicle safety and CCTV solutions across the region.
 
Our client specialises in:

  • Vehicle CCTV and camera systems
  • Mobile Digital Video Recorders (MDVR)
  • AI-powered safety and collision avoidance technology
  • Blind spot detection systems
  • Fleet monitoring and telematics solutions

Their systems are installed across commercial fleets including HGVs, specialist vehicles, municipal fleets and plant equipment — helping organisations improve road safety, compliance and driver protection.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineering leader with a strong background in field service, installation or technical operations.
 
The Role
As Regional Engineering Manager, you will oversee all engineering operations across the North, ensuring high-quality installations, service delivery and regulatory compliance.
You will:

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of field-based engineers
  • Ensure exceptional service standards across vehicle technology installations
  • Oversee scheduling, job allocation and resource planning
  • Maintain compliance with Health & Safety and ISO standards
  • Monitor KPIs, productivity and operational performance
  • Support technical escalations and customer issue resolution
  • Drive continuous service improvement initiatives

This is a hybrid role combining field presence, home working and office collaboration.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
Team Leadership & Performance Management

  • Set clear KPIs and measurable team objectives
  • Conduct performance reviews, mentoring and training
  • Manage sickness, holidays and disciplinary processes
  • Deliver field-based technical training programmes

Engineering & Operational Oversight

  • Match jobs to engineer skillset and experience
  • Ensure parts and equipment are ready prior to installation
  • Monitor service documentation and job management systems
  • Investigate and resolve day-to-day technical issues

Quality, Compliance & Auditing

  • Conduct on-site quality audits of vehicle installations
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation
  • Contribute to ISO 9001, 14001 & 27001 standards
  • Implement and maintain continuous improvement plans

Customer & Technical Support

  • Provide on-site customer support and training
  • Manage and investigate technical complaints
  • Support trial installations of new vehicle safety equipment
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing on new product rollouts

 
About You
To be successful in this Regional Engineering Manager role, you will have:

  • Proven experience managing field-based engineering teams
  • Background in vehicle technology, CCTV, telematics, automotive electrics or similar
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills
  • Experience managing KPIs and operational performance
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations
  • Understanding of ISO standards (desirable)
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities

Auto Electrician – Role Overview
As an Auto Electrician, you will be responsible for electrical installation, diagnostics, fault finding, and repairs on specialist vehicle builds. You’ll work on a production line environment, ensuring all work meets the highest quality and safety standards within set timeframes.
 
Key Responsibilities

  • Install electrical systems on specialist and emergency response vehicles
  • Fit wiring looms, light bars, control units, and associated components
  • Carry out diagnostics, fault finding, and electrical repairs
  • Work from detailed build instructions and technical drawings
  • Maintain high-quality standards across all installations
  • Support production line assembly processes

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience as an Auto Electrician (ideally with light vehicles)
  • NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 2 (or equivalent) – desirable
  • IMI qualifications – advantageous
  • Experience with automotive connectors (TE Fastons, Mate-N-Lok, Superseal, insulated terminals)
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and record detailed work notes
  • Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
  • Able to work independently after training
  • Good communication skills and team-focused attitude

With decades of experience delivering high-quality, bespoke vehicles, we are now looking for a Design Engineer to join thier growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative vehicle projects, from concept through to production.
 
The Role – Design Engineer (Automotive)
As a Design Engineer, you’ll play a key role in both developing existing vehicle platforms and bringing new vehicle designs to life.
 
You’ll work closely with production, engineering, and cross-functional teams to:

  • Improve product quality
  • Reduce manufacturing costs
  • Increase reliability and efficiency

 
Key Responsibilities

  • Design vehicle components, assemblies, and systems using 3D CAD (Inventor)
  • Create and manage Bills of Materials (BoMs)
  • Support new product development from concept through to production
  • Drive continuous improvement across manufacturing and production processes
  • Apply Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFM/DFA) principles
  • Identify production issues and implement engineering solutions
  • Support vehicle homologation / Whole Vehicle Type Approval processes
  • Work to UK and international engineering standards
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and procurement teams
  • Carry out engineering calculations (e.g. weight distribution, stress analysis)

 
Skills & Experience Required
 
Essential:

  • Experience as a Design Engineer within automotive manufacturing
  • Strong 3D CAD skills (Autodesk Inventor / Solidworks preferred)
  • Experience creating assemblies, drawings, and BoMs
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes (sheet metal, fabrication, etc.)
  • Knowledge of DFM / DFA principles
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience in vehicle design or vehicle conversion
  • Familiarity with Vault (PLM), ERP systems, or Microsoft Dynamics NAV
  • Experience with FEA, surfacing, or advanced modelling
  • Exposure to homologation / vehicle approval processes
