A leading player in the UK Rail sector is seeking a Fleet Engineer to ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of their fleet. Role Overview
As a Fleet Engineer, you’ll be responsible for asset compliance, performance monitoring, and maintenance coordination, supporting both proactive and reactive engineering initiatives. You’ll work alongside cross-functional teams to ensure engineering standards are upheld while contributing to the ongoing development of fleet strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and company engineering standards.
- Manage planned and reactive maintenance activities, reviewing and closing out maintenance documentation.
- Raise and manage work deferrals, engineering dispensations, and technical bulletins in line with compliance requirements.
- Support fleet planning and material management to maintain appropriate stock levels of critical items.
- Collaborate with the Reliability Engineer to introduce condition-based monitoring for locomotives.
- Create and update maintenance procedures in response to asset performance data.
- Recommend and document engineering improvements or modifications.
- Provide technical support and guidance to production teams, including maintenance procedures and repair schemes.
- Participate in daily fleet meetings and contribute to operational planning.
- Take part in an engineering ‘on call’ rota as required.
About You
- Level 3 qualification in an engineering discipline (essential)
- Level 5 qualification and/or professional registration with an engineering institution (desirable)
- Experience in asset management and project coordination
- Sound understanding of rail engineering standards and safety compliance
- Strong analytical, organisational, and communication skills
- Proficiency in using asset management systems
- PTS certification (desirable)
