The Role
My client is seeking a proactive and organised Production Planner to join our friendly, results-driven Production team. Working closely with the Planning Supervisor and reporting to the Operations Director, you will play a key role in creating, managing, and continuously improving production plans that support on-time delivery and operational efficiency across the factory.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Planner who enjoys cross-functional working, problem-solving, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, maintain, and communicate weekly and monthly production plans, considering manpower, equipment, raw materials, capacity, sales forecasts, and new business opportunities.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Sales, Quality, Logistics, and Purchasing teams to align plans with operational changes and compliance requirements.
- Analyse production risks, including lead times, bottlenecks, capacity gaps, and downtime, proposing practical mitigation solutions.
- Monitor performance against plan, identifying wins, issues, and improvement opportunities to feed into future planning cycles.
- Review new sales order requests and provide realistic promise dates prior to order confirmation.
- Maintain and review capacity plans to ensure effective staffing levels, machine scheduling, and utilisation.
- Support ERP system setup, data accuracy, maintenance, and ongoing improvements.
- Prepare and present clear analysis and reports in meetings and written communications.
- Contribute to a strong continuous improvement culture and deputise for team members when required.
About You
- Previous experience in a Production Planning / Manufacturing Planning role.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, capacity planning, and scheduling.
- Confident working cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Sales, and Quality teams.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to identify risks and implement practical solutions.
- Comfortable using ERP/MRP systems and Excel or similar planning tools.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present data clearly and professionally.
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
