The Role
- An established engineering manufacturer operating in the high-precision industrial technology sector is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join its in-house machine shop.
- This is a hands-on role focused on prototype and low-volume production, supporting cutting-edge equipment used in advanced industrial applications.
- You’ll be responsible for programming, setting, and running CNC machinery while working closely with engineering and design teams to deliver high-quality components to exacting standards.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Programming & Machining
- Manufacture prototype and low-volume production components from a range of materials
- Program, set, and operate 3- and 4-axis CNC milling machines
- Program, set, and operate 2-axis CNC lathes
- Experience with Mazak (Mazatrol or ISO) and/or Hurco (WinMax) preferred
- Use Hypermill CAD/CAM or similar software
- Support new part development from concept through to completion
- Liaise with external suppliers when required, including site visits
Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Machine components to tight tolerances in line with engineering drawings
- Inspect own work using precision measuring equipment
- Contribute to process improvements to increase efficiency, tool life, and waste reduction
- Work within ISO 9001 quality systems and maintain 5S standards
Experience & Skills
- Apprentice-trained machinist or 5+ years’ experience in a precision engineering environment
- Strong CNC programming, setting, and operating experience – must be able to create programmes from scratch, and edit others.
- Confident interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
- Proactive, self-motivated, and quality-focused
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
