SMT Team Lead – Motorsport & High-Reliability Electronics

Are you a hands-on SMT Team Lead with strong pick & place expertise and a passion for precision electronics?
GTS Group are recruiting for an experienced Surface Mount Technology Team Leader to manage a small, specialist assembly team producing complex, high-value electronic products used in motorsport and high-end automotive applications.
 
Working in a brand-new, purpose-built manufacturing facility designed to showcase advanced motorsport electronics capability.
 
The Role
You’ll lead a small team of skilled SMT technicians while remaining hands-on in production. This is a fast-paced, high-quality environment where reliability and precision are non-negotiable.
 
Key responsibilities include:

• Programming and running ASM SX pick & place machines
• Operating 3D AOI, Selective Soldering, X-Ray and Conformal Coating equipment
• Supporting DFM, DFA and DFT during NPI
• Contributing to Process FMEA and continuous improvement initiatives
• Managing production planning, resource allocation and preventative maintenance
• Driving IPC Class 3 quality standards and ISO9001 compliance
• Mentoring, developing and performance managing your team

Overtime may be required during peak delivery periods.
 
What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in low-volume, high-complexity SMT manufacturing
• Strong pick & place programming background
• Comprehensive understanding of IPC Class 3 standards
• Experience within motorsport, automotive, aerospace or similar high-tech sectors
• Strong leadership and team development skills
• Detail-driven mindset with a passion for zero-defect manufacturing
