Are you an experienced Composites Manufacturing Engineer looking to work on cutting-edge aerospace, defence and advanced engineering projects?
GTS Group are seeking a talented engineer to join a rapidly growing advanced manufacturing business that is redefining what is possible with high-performance composite structures. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on innovative products, develop manufacturing processes and play a key role in scaling production capability across multiple industries.
The Role
As a Composites Manufacturing Engineer, you will take ownership of manufacturing processes from development through to production, ensuring quality, efficiency and continuous improvement across composite manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise composite manufacturing processes including lay-up, curing and trimming
- Create and maintain manufacturing documentation, routings, BOMs and process instructions
- Support production, quality and design teams with technical expertise
- Drive root cause investigations and corrective actions for manufacturing issues
- Lead Material Review Board (MRB) activities and non-conformance investigations
- Train and support production teams on best practice manufacturing methods
- Assist with commissioning and qualification of new equipment and processes
- Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 and aerospace quality standards
Requirements
- Experience within advanced composites manufacturing
- Strong understanding of composite materials, lay-up techniques and curing processes
- Hands-on knowledge of autoclave and lamination processes
- Experience working within aerospace, defence, motorsport or high-performance engineering environments
- Knowledge of AS9100 or equivalent quality standards
- Ability to interpret CAD models and engineering documentation
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Desirable Experience
- Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) or fibre steering technologies
- ERP systems such as SYSPRO
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification
- Experience supporting manufacturing scale-up activities
