Auto Electrician | Vehicle Telematics | HGV | LCV | CCTV | CANbus | ADAS
GTS Group are currently recruiting for an experienced Auto Electrician / Field Engineer to join a growing team specialising in vehicle telematics, CCTV, safety systems and electrical technology.
This is a field-based role covering the Northern region, working across HGVs, LCVs, buses, coaches, trailers and specialist vehicles.
We’re looking for someone with a strong background in vehicle electrics, auto electrical installations and fault finding, ideally with experience working on commercial vehicles or fleet technology.
The Role
As an Auto Electrician / Field Engineer, you’ll be responsible for installing, maintaining and fault-finding a wide range of electrical and electronic systems on commercial vehicles.
Your work will include:
- Installing vehicle tracking and telematics systems into 12V and 24V vehicles
- Wiring 3-wire systems, plugs, pins and OBD connections
- Installing and fault-finding CANbus, J1939, J1708, FMS and CANcliq systems
- Installing vehicle CCTV and dashcams, including multi-camera systems
- Installing vehicle safety systems including DVS, Side Scan, Side Sensors, PSS and ADAS
- Installing and maintaining Alcolock / Breathalock systems
- Installing temperature monitoring systems and temperature probes
- Wiring tablets, RAM mounts, driver monitoring systems and other in-cab equipment
- Carrying out tacho downloads and telematics integrations
- Installing and maintaining Suzi connections for tractors and trailers
- Installing lightbars, beacons and vehicle lighting
- Installing inverters and other vehicle power solutions
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical and electronic faults on-site
- Travelling to customer locations to complete installations, servicing and repairs
About You
We’re looking for an experienced Auto Electrician, Vehicle Electrician, Automotive Electrical Technician or Field Engineer with hands-on experience working with vehicle electrical systems.
You’ll ideally have experience with:
- 12V and 24V vehicle electrical systems
- Vehicle wiring and electrical fault finding
- CANbus / J1939 / J1708 / FMS
- Vehicle tracking and telematics
- CCTV and dashcam installation
- ADAS and vehicle safety systems
- HGV, LCV, bus, coach or trailer electrical systems
- Commercial vehicle or fleet installations
Experience working on HGVs, emergency service vehicles, commercial vehicles or specialist vehicles would be particularly useful.
You should also be comfortable working independently in a field-based environment, dealing directly with customers and managing your own workload.
A full UK driving licence is essential.
