Financial Controller – Construction Industry

GTS Banking & Finance is proud to be representing our client – a highly successful and expanding business in the construction industry – in their search for a Financial Controller. This is a standout opportunity for a driven, commercially minded finance professional to join a thriving company and progress to Finance Director.
  
Our client has a turnover set to grow from £100m to £170m, and they need someone who can combine hands-on financial control with strategic insight to support this exciting growth phase
  
The role will involve:

• Producing management accounts, balance sheets, and cash flow reports with accuracy and confidence.
• Leading cash flow forecasting and financial strategy.
• Designing and implementing systems and processes to improve reporting and efficiency.
• Managing long-term project accounting (2–3 years, typical in construction or contracting).
• Overseeing a small finance team of 4–5 staff (payroll and purchase ledger clerks).
• Building clear, practical spreadsheets to track performance and profitability.

  
The ideal candidate will have:

• ACCA qualification (or equivalent) with strong financial accounting skills.
• Significant commercial finance experience – not purely practice-based.
• Experience in construction, contracting, or logistics (highly desirable).
• Ambition, energy, and a systems-driven approach.
• A level-headed and stable career track record.
• Confidence to handle both day-to-day finance operations and strategic planning.
