We’re working with a leading Aviation & Aerospace manufacturer specialising in bespoke vehicles and high-precision metal products.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead complex design projects and support the next generation of high-performance aerospace engineering solutions.
Reporting to the Design Manager, you’ll take ownership of the design and development of bespoke aerospace products, producing accurate models, drawings, and technical documentation. You’ll work closely with production teams to ensure designs are buildable, compliant, and delivered to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop bespoke aerospace vehicles and heavy engineering products
- Produce 3D models, detailed drawings, cut lists, and manufacturing documentation
- Liaise with production teams and support manufacturing activities
- Carry out structural, tolerance, and stress calculations
- Drive design improvements and manage engineering change requests
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and health & safety procedures
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
Experience Required
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in mechanical design within aviation, aerospace, or heavy engineering
- Strong SolidWorks and AutoCAD skills
- Excellent technical drawing capability
- Knowledge of type approval and manufacturing processes
