Senior Test & Validation Engineer – Powertrain | EV & Automotive

GTS Group is seeking a Senior Test and Validation Engineer (Contractor) to join our clients Powertrain Engineering team. You’ll plan and deliver testing on EV battery systems, motors, inverters, and driveline components, ensuring they meet project, customer, and regulatory requirements.
This is a hands-on role working across test facilities, proving grounds, and external labs, providing accurate data to support world-class automotive and motorsport projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out validation tests on HV battery packs, modules, and cells plus driveline components.
• Define and execute test procedures, results sheets, and pass/fail criteria.
• Source and prepare test equipment, sensors, wiring looms, and loggers.
• Ensure all instrumentation is calibrated and reliable before testing.
• Work with external test houses and assess in-house test feasibility.
• Analyse data (Matlab, MoTeC, Vector tools, Excel) and provide clear reports.
• Identify issues during testing and feed back to engineering teams.
• Support correlation between simulation, rig, and track data.
• Stay up to date with automotive legislation and testing standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Motorsport, or related Engineering.
• 2+ years’ experience in automotive or motorsport test/validation (OEM, Tier 1, or consultancy).
• Strong knowledge of EV powertrains, HV battery systems, and driveline components.
• Skilled in test planning, execution, and data analysis.
• Experience with high-voltage systems and safety processes.
• Excellent problem-solving, organisation, and communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.

Desirable: Experience with IP testing, CANbus, battery design, and advanced data analysis tools (Matlab, MoTeC, VBA, Vector).
