Senior Test & Validation Engineer – Powertrain

Our client is a leader in high-performance automotive and EV engineering, working with some of the world’s biggest brands in motorsport and advanced vehicle technology. We are now looking for a Senior Powertrain Test and Validation Engineer to join their growing team.
 
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in testing and validating EV battery systems, driveline components, motors, and inverters, ensuring they meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
 
What You’ll Do

• Plan and run powertrain validation tests on HV batteries, packs, modules, motors, and driveline systems.
• Prepare test procedures, set up instrumentation, and ensure equipment is calibrated.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver results on time and to project requirements.
• Work with external test houses, proving grounds, and their in-house facilities.
• Analyse data (using Matlab, MoTeC, Vector, Excel VBA, etc.) and provide clear feedback.
• Write concise test reports and highlight issues or improvements.
• Support continuous improvement in test processes, correlation between simulation, test, and track.

 
What We’re Looking For

• Degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Motorsport, or related Engineering.
• 2+ years’ experience in automotive or motorsport test and validation (OEM, Tier 1, or consultancy).
• Strong knowledge of EV powertrains, high-voltage systems, and driveline components.
• Excellent data analysis and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with CANbus, test equipment, and safety standards.
• Flexible, organised, and able to deliver under pressure.

Desirable: battery design knowledge, IP testing experience, and advanced use of analysis tools.
