Our power client, a leader in precision-engineered electrical systems, is seeking a Test and Commissioning Engineer to join their growing Manchester team.
In this hands-on role, you’ll ensure product quality from the factory floor to the field, combining precision testing with real-world commissioning. You’ll be part of a skilled engineering team where your expertise directly contributes to the performance and reliability of mission-critical equipment.
What You’ll Experience:
- Conduct factory-based electrical testing on transformers and wound components (voltage ratio, winding resistance, high voltage flash, insulation resistance, and more)
- Lead commissioning and performance validation at customer sites
- Perform Site Acceptance Tests (SATs) to ensure seamless integration and compliance
- Support Design Engineers during type testing and product validation
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues both in-house and on-site
- Maintain accurate records and produce Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) documentation to ISO9001:2015 standards
What You’ll Bring:
- BTEC ONC/NVQ (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
- 2+ years’ experience in electrical testing, production, or commissioning
- Strong understanding of AC theory and safe working practices in HV test environments
- Ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams and follow structured test procedures
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally for commissioning projects
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working under DNO, IDNO, or transmission operator site safety rules
- Site access qualifications (CSCS, EUSR, EFAW, substation access)
- Customer-facing on-site experience
- Ability to work independently and adapt to varied environments
