About the Company
GTS are working with a specialist vehicle manufacturer operating at the cutting edge of emergency response, passenger transport, and high-performance support vehicles. Their focus is on designing and building reliable, high-spec vehicles used in critical, real-world environments.
Due to continued growth, we are looking for experienced Coachbuilders / Mechanical Fitters to join their skilled production team and support the build and conversion of specialist vehicles.
Coachbuilder / Mechanical Fitter – Role Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for the mechanical build, interior and exterior fit-out, and vehicle conversion work. You’ll play a key part in transforming base vehicles into fully operational, specialist units tailored to specific customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out vehicle conversion and fit-out work on specialist vehicles
- Install flooring, seating, tracking systems, vents, and interior trim
- Work on both interior and exterior vehicle modifications
- Follow detailed build instructions and technical specifications
- Collaborate with a small, skilled production team
- Ensure all work is completed to high-quality and safety standards
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in coachbuilding, vehicle fitting, or body building roles
- Ability to follow technical drawings and build instructions accurately
- Skilled in working independently after training
- Experience working with a wide range of materials including:
- Mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium
- Fibreglass, composites, plastics (ABS), plywood
- Vinyl, carpet, and trim materials
- Experience using consumables such as fillers, sealants, adhesives, paints, and primers
- Competent with hand tools and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication skills and team-focused attitude
- Understanding of health & safety practices

- Competitive salary (DOE)
- 4-day working week (Monday-Thursday, 7:30am – 5:30pm)
- Overtime available:
- Weekdays: x1.3 then x1.5
- Saturday: x1.5 then x2
- Sunday: x2 (subject to conditions)
