Payload Integration Engineer, Luxembourg
GTS Space is working with a company who are redefining what’s possible in the Low Earth Orbit economy. Backed by an ambitious in-space manufacturing platform and a growing roster of private missions, they are building Europe’s answer to orbital re-entry capability, and they need a Payload Integration Engineer who wants to be at the centre of it.
This is not a role where you sit on the sidelines of a mission. You will be the thread that runs from customer onboarding through to a payload successfully flying and returning data. You’ll guide customers through integration onto next generation platforms, working directly on live space vehicle programmes rather than watching them from a distance.
Expect to work across engineering, systems, software and business development, shaping the standards and processes that this company will use for years to come. You’ll be trusted to build relationships with ESA, NASA PSRP and eventually FAA counterparts, suppliers and commercial partners, representing the business at every stage from acquisition through to post mission review.
You’ll own risk management, budgets and timelines on payload integration activity, and you’ll have real influence over how the workflows for the entire payload lifecycle are defined, from requirements through to in orbit operation.
What you’ll bring:
A degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics or a related technical field, ideally at Master’s level. At least 3 years’ experience in payload integration, systems engineering or mission management within the aerospace industry or an agency, ideally gained in a start-up or emerging space company. ISS or similar programme experience is a strong asset.
You’ll bring strong knowledge of spacecraft systems and payload design, familiarity with environmental testing (thermal, vacuum, radiation) and space grade materials, and genuine comfort translating customer needs into technical requirements that get delivered, not just documented.
Why this one’s worth a look
Space companies talk about being early stage. Few actually let an engineer this early in their career shape the standards an entire integration function will run on for the next decade. If you want your fingerprints on how a new platform reaches orbit and comes back down again, this is that opportunity.
